THE ETHIOPIAN MARITIME TRAINING INSTITUTE

As part of OSEAN 360’s social responsibility, we present the Ethiopian Maritime Training Institute, a bright example of supply to the Maritime industry of highly qualified mariners, that helps the sustainable development of the Ethiopian economy and employment rates.

The Ethiopian Maritime Training Institute (“EMTI”) trains and certifies highly qualified Marine Engineers and Electro Technical Officers. EMTI is located in Bahir Dar on the beautiful Lake Tana, the Source of the Blue Nile.

All candidates to EMTI’s cadet ship program have Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Bachelor of Science degrees (BSc), and undergo stringent written entry exams and interviews. EMTI only selects cadet applicants who have exemplified the highest level of academic aptitude and achievement at their respective undergraduate universities. Training is conducted on EMTI’s new state-of-the-art training campus. The Academy’s world-class instructors utilize a full marine equipment workshop, electrical engineering laboratories including high voltage Switchboard Bay, davits and lifeboat system, and expansive lecture halls.

To date, over 1000 cadets and officers have successfully completed the Maritime Training Program and are sailing onboard vessels.
